SouthNEXT is This Weekend!

Saturday Nov 10 @ SOPAC & Sunday Nov 11 2018 @ Seton Hall Univ.
SouthNEXT is NJ’s annual premier ART, IDEAS and MUSIC Festival focused on the creative collisions between technology and mindfulness, productivity and purpose.

Each year SouthNEXT brings together local artists, speakers, and performers to catalyze the kind of “creative collisions” that spark new ideas and inspire new solutions to some of the most pressing communal challenges of our times.

Now in its fourth year, SouthNEXT’18 kicks off on Saturday, November 10th with a full day of events, conversations and “collisions” at the South Orange Performing Arts Center and continues on Sunday, November 11th with programming all day at Seton Hall University. The SouthNEXT’18wristband is your $20 ticket to the entire Festival. Get yours today!

The final event of SouthNEXT, “Mindfulness in Our Community”, will take place in the McNulty Science Building at Seton Hall University on Sunday, November 11 from 5 PM-6PM. This thought provoking panel discussion includes Professor Peter Savastano; Deputy Mayor of Maplewood Frank McGehee; David Harris, Vice Chair of the South Orange Maplewood Community Coalition on Race; and Emani Miles and Monika J. Soto, current undergraduate student leaders at Seton Hall University. Moderated by David Harris, we will recognize and explore how to collaborate on thorny issues that affect our Community which includes 40,000+ SOMA residents as well as 10,000 University members.  Now is a time to not just be concerned with our own personal issues, but how do we go beyond them and recognize the importance of addressing concerns that impact all of us. Can we overcome barriers to embrace the concept of one community and what would that really look like? Following the panel discussion, there will be time for questions and answers.
