Postponed: Community Forum on the July 5, 2016 Police Incident

The Community Forum originally scheduled for Monday, August 7th will be rescheduled for a future date.  In the meantime, our work on social justice and reforming police practices does not stop. We look forward to engaging with our community so that long lasting change is made, and that everyone who lives, works, and plays in Maplewood and South Orange is able to do so freely and without harm or harassment.

The South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race, the SO/M School District, Reverend Doctor Terry Richardson of First Baptist Church of South Orange, SOMA Action, SOMA Justice, and other community members together with other community partners are working to organize a community forum to discuss the recently released audio and video of the July 5, 2016 incident. The forum will be a safe place to express our feelings and to strategize future action. We believe that the way to move forward is through a unitedly agreed upon community-based plan of action. We invite all residents to this extremely important Community Forum, which is the first of many in our collective efforts. The forum will take place on August 7, 2017 at 7:30 pm at Maplewood Middle School. Questions should be directed to the Community Coalition on Race at 973-761-6116 or info@twotowns.org.
