Grant from the Puffin Foundation

The Puffin Foundation Ltd. has sought to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists and art organizations who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their race, gender, or social philosophy.  This year, the Community Coalition on Race is the proud recipient of a grant from the Foundation toward our Integration Through The Arts projects.

The Coalition has sponsored arts experiences for the community for over 7 years with the purpose of bridging racial barriers.  We have used many different arts over the years–literature, photography, music, choral singing, storytelling, dramatic performance, playback theater–to bring people together.  We use people’s shared love a given art form to build relationships and we use performance and workshops to help build people’s understanding of intentional integration in a diverse community.

We extend our deep gratitude to the Puffin Foundation for their commitment to the arts and the ways in which the arts can be used to shape our consciousness.
